Sleep Aids FAQ

Q: What is a sleep aid and what does it do?

Many people struggle to fall asleep at night or wake during the night, ruining their sleep quality and resulting in them waking up in the morning feeling unrested and lacking energy. Lack of sleep or poor quality of sleep can affect everyday activities and reduce quality of life. Not getting enough sleep can lead to an inability to relax, exhaustion/fatigue, headaches, low energy, difficulty concentrating, mood disturbances (irritability), and decreased performance in work or at school.

This is why many people turn to using sleep aids to help them get a better night's rest. Supplementation with certain ingredients can help calm the body and mind as well as regulate the body's natural sleep-wake cycle to promote a more restful night's sleep. These ingredients include Chamomile, Passion Flower, Valerian, Lemon Balm, Melatonin, and L-ornithine.

Q: Do all sleep aids work?

Unfortunately, no. Many fly-by-night companies just ride these trends, manufacturing inferior products with the wrong ingredients and proportions. They often use cheap additives and synthetic ingredients that do not have the optimal desired effect as active ingredients.

Q: What should I look for?

  • It should contain L-orthinine, an amino acid which helps reduce stress, promotes restful sleep, and reduces fatigue.
  • It must contain clinically-proven ingredients such as Lemon Balm, Passion Flower, Chamomile, Hops, and Valerian.
  • It should contain Melatonin to regulate sleep patterns.
  • It must be 100% pure with no added unnecessary ingredients that may reduce the effectiveness of the product.
  • It must provide a money-back guarantee.

Q: What about safety? Are there side effects to watch out for?

From our research, we did not find any negative interactions between the ingredients and other medications or conditions. However, we still recommend consulting with a healthcare professional if you have a pre-existing medical condition or take any medications on a regular basis. Also, pregnant or nursing women are advised not to take any supplements without a healthcare professional’s approval. The ingredient Melatonin can cause drowsiness, so it is advised to not take a sleep aid before driving or operating heavy machinery.

Q: How do I take a sleep aid?

You should take the capsules as per the manufacturer’s instructions. Usually, it is 2 capsules a day before bedtime. As with any type of supplement, you should not exceed the recommended daily dosage, since this can pose health risks.

Q: How long will it take to see the effects?

Some customers we spoke to reported seeing results in as little as a few days. For others, it took about a week or so. Results also seem to be a bit different for each person. Some found relief right away, while others took a little longer. Many of the reputable brands we reviewed offer refunds to customers who don’t get the results they want.

Q: How much do sleep aids cost?

The cost of sleep aids varies based on the manufacturer. Many of them are worthless, just random companies with cheap quality products trying to cash in on health trends. Some of these companies sell their supplements for as much as $100 per bottle, which we think is a bit too expensive. Most of the really good supplements we tested fell in the $40-$50 range. Others may appear cheaper, but they often boast a one-month supply when they’re really giving you half the recommended dosage with plenty of fillers and binders.

Q: What’s the best sleep aid brand to buy?

Each person will experience different results with different products, so it’s hard to say offhand which is best. However, we particularly liked Research Verified Sleep Aid. We found it to be the best of the 40+ products we researched, based on the products’ quality, customers’ feedback, and the company’s customer service.

You can experiment to see which product is right for you, but if you’re looking for a well-reviewed product you can count on, we think you’d love Research Verified Sleep Aid, a high-quality product at a fair price.
